Thiess first commenced operations in Indonesia in 1972 as a subsidiary of Thiess Bros Pty Ltd. In 1984 Thiess Indonesia operations were acquired by C.S.R. in a corporate takeover. In November 1988, PT. Thiess Contractors Indonesia was re-established and incorporated. It was awarded its first major mining contract in March 1989 by BHP at Senakin Mine in Kalimantan. Through the 1990s, Thiess Indonesia was very successful in securing a significant share of the infrastructure works associated with the development of major mines by international mining companies.
The strength of Thiess Indonesia project experience has enabled the group to develop the capability to provide total project solutions through E.P.C contracts and other project delivery methods including alliances. In addition, Thiess Indonesia can draw specialist resources and support from its parent company whenever required.
In addition, Thiess Indonesia has been successful in servicing a number of long-term mining contracts, which are still in progress today. In more recent years, Thiess Indonesia has diversified into Telecommunications projects and the Oil and Gas sector.

Commercial Manager - Toll Roads

Residentially based in Jakarta and reporting to the Project Director - Toll Roads, you will be directly responsible for commercial issues in relation to $1.3 Billion USD Toll Road project works in Central Java as well as Southern Jakarta.

The scope of your role will include but not be limited to:

·         Working closely with the Construction Team to ensure budgetary compliance.
·         Leadership of forward revenue planning initiatives
·         Set up and monitor structured contract documents for all company stakeholders.
·         Assist with setting cost targets for design & construction
·         Manage all cash requirements for the Toll Roads.
·         Evaluate the monthly progress numbers, actual cost as well as forecast cost and determine where improvements could be made.
·         Monitor potential Law changes & legislation issues and their potential impact on the project.
·         Evaluate changes in scope of the work and the financial impact onto established budgets and targets.
·         Mentor, coach and develop National Staff to a level of competency in commercial management that is acceptable to the business

As the successful candidate, we will require of you:

  • Degree in Commercial Management/QS (preferred) or possibly Project Management
  • 15 years+ experience in construction design, commercial negotiation, cost planning, estimating, budgeting and client relations (overseas preferred) attained with top tier contract companies
  • Cultural sensitivity with an understanding of issues relevant to large scale civil projects within developing countries
  • Strong mentoring, team building and team development skills

Residentially based in Jakarta and reporting to the Executive Manager Construction - Indonesia, you will be directly responsible for the management and leadership of $1.3 Billion USD Toll Road project works in Central Java as well as Southern Jakarta.

The scope of your role will include but not be limited to….

  • Evaluate changes in scope of the projects work and the financial impact onto established budgets and targets.
  • Delivering agreed profit margins via maintaining and increasing revenues generated through ROI
  • Developing and ensuring professional and robust internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Completion and delivery of project work in line with the agreed safety, quality, time and profit KPIs set by the business unit in accordance with toll company procedures and policies.
As the successful candidate, we will require of you…
  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in leading large scale relevant (overseas preferred) civil projects attained with top tier contract companies
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • A willingness to travel to the projects in central Java for extended periods as required
  • Cross cultural management sensitivity and an understanding of issues relevant to large scale Civil projects within developing countries
  • Strong mentoring, team building and team development skills
  • Extensive experience encompassing CIVIL planning, scheduling, project management, estimating, budgeting and government relations
